Operating System Face Off

Since RedHat is pulling support for the desktop, it's time to search for the next operating system to use. In the running are Debian, Mandrake, FreeBSD, and NetBSD. OpenBSD was eliminated since it didn't run Gallery without causing a big headache. It looks like NetBSD will win since it installs all the dhcpd and named servers which are nice to have when setting up a NAT router. The downside is that NetBSD requires installing lynx and bash to begin to make it useful.

Debian and Mandrake are quite heavy weight in comparison. It'll take a bit more time to evaluate them.
