Package Management

There's too many things to learn about package management. Each system has its own commands. RedHat's rpm uses the rpm binary with oodles of options. My normal problem is to find files that belong to packages and list all the installed packages. Then, the BSDs have their pkg_info command. And Debian uses apt and dpkg. I remember researching all the flags to be able to query the package database, but I forget them.

This is a good reference. I guess it got moderated up by lots of links and shows up reasonably high in Google. http://xtronics.com/reference/rpm2apt-dpkg.htm
