Satellite Internet

After Katrina, getting internet into cell-phone-down locations is interesting. Particularly since cell-phone-broadband isn't quite widely deployed. But it gets expensive.

This first in-motion device is good for moving ground vehicles. But it's as slow as a modem.

For parked RVs, this dish is expensive--somewhere around $4000. This is nuts compared to the $80 to free cable and DSL modems. At least the monthly fees aren't as nutty. The speeds don't look that impressive, but when you don't have cell-phone and need internet, you don't get much choice.

Now if I win the lottery and get a plane, then I'll need to get something better that works in the air and at 600 miles per hour.
