How to revive gel pens

Some of my Uniball Grip gel pens started writing less smoothly. I wrote circles with each pen over half a page. I would hold the pen at an angle and press really hard. After writing a few circles, I would rotate the pen.

I think this helped dislodge some dried ink along the ball socket.
